Let me introduce myself, I am Claire. You are probably asking, who is Kathryn. I know…it confuses everyone. I go by my middle name. My parents named me Kathryn Claire but wanted to call me Claire. They said Kathryn Claire flowed better than Claire Kathryn and I agree.
On a side note, I love the meaning of my name. Claire means giver of light. My hope is that I can live up to the meaning of my name.
A little about me, first and foremost, I’m a mother to my three beautiful children and a wife to a wonderful husband. My three kids have taught me so much about life and learning to live to my fullest. My patient and supportive husband is my lighter side. Sometimes I tend to take life a little too serious, and he is there with a joke to bring me back to what matters.
My favorite moments of the day are the quiet peaceful moments of early morning to drink my coffee, read, and pray; the moment when I hear my kids say daddy is home. I love conversation around the dinner table, and cuddling with my babies at night.
Additionally, I like to spend my spare moments as a photographer. It’s a hobby that has grown into a business. To me it doesn’t feel like work. It’s just something I enjoy doing.
My passion for photography began in college. As journalism major, attending Abilene Christian University, I took a photography class; one of the first assignments was to photograph children. With camera in hand, I set off to a local daycare. I had so much fun interacting, playing and making those kids laugh. On that playground was where I discovered a passion for photography.
After college, I began teaching journalism and photography, as well as, advising the yearbook and newspaper at Cleburne High School in Cleburne, Texas. Soon after, I met my husband, and we were married the following year. A year and a half later our first child was on the way. After three years of teaching, I resigned to become a full-time mom to my daughter. Since then, we’ve added to our family: two fun, energetic little boys.
When my oldest started school I bought my first DSLR camera. My background was in film photography and dark room, so I challenged myself to learn digital photography and photo editing. Every day, I set in the school pick up line studying my manual. I studied whenever I got a chance, then I practiced. I practiced on my kids, my friend’s kids. I asked my daughter’s teacher if I could take pictures of her kids. I haven't stopped learning. I continue, everyday, to learn and grow as a photographer.
I am enjoying life and so proud of where I am today. Over the last 10 years, my own children have captured my heart and my camera. Thank you so much to my little family for contributing to my photography journey; you truly are my inspiration.
Today I enjoy getting to know new people and capturing those important life moments. It would be an honor to be invited into your lives to tell you life stories.
